The I-130 petition was swiftly approved by USCIS, and the mother proceeded with the immigrant visa process at the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou, China.
However, the process took an unexpected turn when the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou denied the mother’s immigrant visa due to her past membership in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)—a ground of inadmissibility under U.S. immigration law.
